We are writing today to inform you OPERS will no longer be sending you a
copy of the acknowledgement letter we send to your retiring employees
once a completed Retirement Notice and Application has been
received by our office.
Members retiring as of January 1, 2012, recently received their
acknowledgment letters. That was the final set of letters where
the employer received a copy. We encourage to you keep a copy of
the completed Retirement Notice and Application for your records
once your office has completed the Retirement Coordinator Verification
(Part 8). In addition, we will still be requesting a
Final Unused Sick Leave Record for each retiring employee. In
fact, this may be submitted as soon as the retiring employee leaves the
payroll to help expedite the retirement process.
