Retirement Deadline Schedule

All OPERS retirement dates fall on the first day of month. There is a 60-day deadline to apply for retirement. Retirement applications are digital and you can begin your application here.

After submitting, you will receive a confirmation email that will request your digital signature on your application. Your application will proceed to OPERS once this verification and signature process has been completed. This step must be completed before the 60-day deadline.

You do not have to wait until the deadline to submit your application. If possible, allow extra time as errors will need to be corrected to meet the deadline. We cannot accept applications more than six months in advance of your retirement date.

Your first two months of benefit payments will be deposited on the last working day of the second month of your retirement. By law, OPERS cannot pay benefits retroactively (cannot pay benefits missed before application was submitted).
